In the Netherlands, you can buy international version
Annex A and B, but they have English GUI.

There is a patch available for German Annex-B 7050's to
make them Annex-A (and still in German language). Many
people use it this way outside of Germany when they buy
one from eBay.

The problem with that is that there are hardware differences between Annex
A and B, it's not just soft/firmware.

Thanks Ivor,

I think we need an area code with that speaking clock number.

No you don't it's the Sipgate ID. Simply dial it using a Sipgate "line"
& you will get through to the clock.

Duh! Very senior moment there. Now I get it.

And the answer is "I do not hear the clock". I cannot hear anything
after the ringing tone on any call. As soon as a call is answered I
hear nothing.

If I call myself on another number I can hear from the Fritz end.

What are you calling an "out of service" tone..? Note
that the Fritz uses German tones, irrespective of the
regional settings, so the dial tone sounds very similar
to the UK number unobtainable tone.

Thanks Ivor,

I think we need an area code with that speaking clock

Only if you're calling it from the PSTN, the SIP ID will work from another
Sipgate number. However, just for you, it's 020 7043 1320.

Understood. I didn't catch your drift first time round.

You had published that number before. I just didn'd have it to hand.

Anyway, as of yet, I can't hear anything at the remote end after the
ringing tone.

Common courtesy. I would expect the same. I would do the same for

No silver label. It was sold as Annex A. However, I do

configured as the internet connection. It is plugged

Charter Cable's interface (modem) box.

Thereby lies the answer. If you're not using the internal ADSL modem,
whether it's Annex A or B doesn't matter.

Indeed. The Annex A, Annex B issue is a sidetrack. It is not
relevent to my problem.

There is a seriel number on the base. It is not silver.

Sure!

This is a problem, because if there isnt' a silver label on
the bottom of the device, then you can't know its model no.
and you have lost any kinds of AVM product warranty
(which is 5 years).

Can we know how much you have paid for it?

The warrenty would not be valid in the US anyway. AVM do not service
this market. However, I have UK equipment I want to utilize with UK
numbers.

For the Fritz! I paid USD50.00.

Mine was purchased from Portugal. The CD that came with it is in
German.

Since then I have downloaded English language documentation &
dowloaded and installed English firmware.

Interesting. The Sipura 1001 that the clock is connected to does sometimes
fail to register, but it's ok at the moment and I just tried several calls
from both UK and German Sipgate accounts, plus the PSTN and all worked
fine. There shouldn't be much of a ringing tone unless the line is in use,
in which case you'll get ring tone until it's free (max 30 seconds) but
you should get the audio ok, I'm puzzled.

Try this access route - call 2838111 (Sipgate) or 01352 838111 (PSTN). You
will get a short voice prompt followed by a dial tone. Then dial the
number 05648081.

Let me know if that works.

What differences and what problems exactly?

I have an international (English) 7050, and two German 7050 (one of them
patched to Annex A, the other one patched to English + Annex A) - and all
three of them work perfectly on my Annex A line here...

Yes, it is.

The hardware differences in most cases have no effect on the
quality of the annex A broadband connection.

The difference is among some resistors value used to build
the internal DSL frequency filter of the device.

BE CAREFUL!

A different patching way is needed to patch fritz box fon 7050
which works with AVM latest german firmware (xx.xx.31).
